Department for Communities (DfC) Community Halls Programme

The Department for Communities (DFC) are calling for applications for the Community Halls Programme. This is an opportunity to apply for up to a £25,000 grant towards the upkeep of your community hall. Communities Minister, Paul Givan, has encouraged eligible organisations to the Community Halls Pilot Grant Programme to apply for the funding before the approaching deadline.

The Programme is open to all types of community halls – church halls, scout halls, Orange halls, AOH halls, sports clubs, village halls and other not for profit community halls. The application period will close at 12.00pm on 23 November.

Mr Givan said:

“A Community hall is much more than bricks and mortar for those who use them. They provide a gathering place where people can feel involved in their local community and supported in their lives. This pilot programme aims to alleviate some of the pressures on local community groups and will help to sustain and support these vital spaces.”

The Minister for Communities, Paul Givan has made available up to £500,000 capital funding in 2016/2017 to operate a Pilot Programme for community halls.

Many community organisations use community halls in urban and rural areas. Examples include church halls, scout halls, orange halls and other halls and centres which are used for a multitude of activities.

The Department recognises that many of these premises need support to undertake minor works to maintain and/ or enhance their valuable contribution to the local community and wider society.

This Ministerial DfC initiative is being delivered by Departmental officials who will oversee the award and ensure that the benefits are realised.

Any grant awarded will be a maximum of £25,000.

The closing date for applications is strictly Wednesday 23 November 2016 at noon.  Please note that incomplete applications or applications received after the closing date and time will be deemed invalid and not be considered.

You can download the application here or click the link below to complete it online.

This grant is only eligible for expenditure incurred from the date of award until 31 March 2017.
